Dorset Button Suffragette Badge Kit
I designed this special brooch to celebrate 100 years of women over 30 gaining equal rights to vote. Legislation was to change ten years later to include all women over 21.
Over the last few years I have been asked to take a Dorset Button adult workshops at Larmer Tree Festival. This year the Festival was held on a baking hot day in July and over 60 participants made one of these lovely brooches in the colours adopted by the Suffragette movement which I designed in memory of all the women who fought for our rights. I only have twenty of these kits left and once sold out that will be it. You could say they are of a limited edition.
In 1908 the co-editor of Votes for Women, Emmeline Pethick-Lawrence, designed the suffragettes' colour scheme of purple for loyalty and dignity, white for purity, and green for hope.
The kit contains Instructions, thread, a 25mm ring and a safety pin with ribbon attached for sewing onto the back of your button.
